FAQ - Laboratory Health
Prolonged use of pipettes can cause painful and disabling upper limb conditions that could prevent you from temporarily continuing with your experimental work.
Symptoms may be slight but should not be ignored and include:
- tenderness, cramp or swelling over the affected area
- aches, pains and stiffness
- weakness, tingling and numbness.
Many of the above symptoms can be prevented by improving your workstation set-up and your posture as well as increased rest breaks, improved job design and equipment.
